Shareholders
Guarantee for the Company’s economical stability are its shareholders: Talanx International AG – company of the German insurance group Talanx, which holds 94% of the capital of HDI Zastrahovane, and the Central Cooperative Union – organization with traditions in Bulgaria, which holds 6% of the capital.
Talanx operates extremely successfully as a multi-brand provider in highly promising sectors of the insurance and financial services industry. Since August 2003 the Group is headed by the financial and management holding company Talanx AG, based in Hannover, Germany.
The brands of the Talanx Group include HDI, HDI-Gerling, Hannover Re, TARGO Versicherungen, PB, neue leben and the financial services provider AmpegaGerling. The Hannover-based Group is active in 150 countries.
Talanx is a modern company with strong roots that reach back more than 100 years into history. The nucleus of today's Talanx Group was in the employers' liability insurance associations of the successful iron and steel sector: From an initiative of the members that were not content with their existing liability insurance, 1903 arose what would later become the HDI Haftpflichtverband der Deutschen Industrie V.a.G.
HDI (Union for civil liability of the German Industry) was founded as industrial insurance company in Frankfurt in 1903. In 1919 the seat of the Group was moved to Hannover. The reinsurance company Hannover Re was founded in 1966. In 2005 Talanx acquired the operating insurance companies of the Gerling Group.
The companies of the Talanx Group operate in different fields of activity in primary and reinsurance:

Talanx underwent particularly strong growth over the past decade and achieved premium income amounting to more than EUR 23 billion for the year 2011. The rating agency Standard&Poor's has given the Talanx Primary Group a financial strength rating of A+/stable.
The reinsurance segment is a massive pillar of the Talanx Group. Its main component is the Hannover Rückversicherungs AG (Hannover Re), the third-largest reinsurer in the world with a gross premium of around EUR 12 billion in 2011. The rating agencies most relevant to the insurance industry have awarded Hannover Re very strong insurer financial strength ratings (Standard & Poor's: AA- "Very Strong" and A.M. Best: A "Excellent").
The Central Cooperative Union (CCU) was founded in 1946 as a voluntary integration of regional, branch and other cooperative unions. Today up the CCU is uniting 34 cooperative unions and 825 cooperatives.
